Do I own the intellectual property & the equity in my company if I win the prize?
The Prize winner retains ownership of all intellectual property and equity. 

If I have a question about the prize or the process, how is it answered?
All questions can be emailed to the Stiller Centre Prize at info@stillercentreprize.com. You will get an email response within 24 hours. If the question is pertinent to all applicants the answer and question will also be posted on this page within 24 hours.

What languages does the prize support?
All applications must be submitted in English. In addition, all prize communications will be provided in English only.

If I do not win what happens to my submission?
The prize selection committee holds all submissions in confidence. Those not selected for the prize will be returned to you by courier and any electronic versions will be deleted.

Is there an age limit?
No, however the primary applicant must have graduated from a post secondary program no more then two years prior to competition deadline.

Is this a business plan competition?
No, we are looking for the best science ‘ideas’.  The winners will develop a business plan over the course of the prize period.  This competition is a structured path to launch businesses.

What types of ‘ideas’ are acceptable?
Anything that can be identified as a type of science or technology, the most common will be in areas of biotechnology, therapeutics, medical devices, nutraceuticals, environmental applications, biomaterials, energy, chemistry, biology and any other areas where wet or dry lab development work is required.

Can I apply if I’m not a resident of Canada?
International applications are welcome and encouraged; we are looking for the most brilliant young minds in the world.  Our sponsors  wil provide basic legal services including some assistance with immigration and visa requirements.

Can I submit more than one entry?
YES!  Get as many ideas as you have down on paper.

Why do we have to submit resumes?
Think of this prize as a job interview to become CEO of your own company.  A resume provides a snapshot of an individual, we are judging not only your idea, but your capability as an entrepreneur, as well as your teams ability to support you.

Can we have a team?
You can have up to two additional team members.  Their resumes must be submitted along with the application.

What if I’m out of the country and cannot attend my interview as a finalist?
We will arrange a phone conference in that specific case.

What happens after the award period is over?
We will work with each prizewinner on an individual basis to ensure they are well supported into their second year of work.  Depending on how the first year goes there may be an opportunity to extend into a second prize year under certain conditions.
